HAWKEN YOUTH WRESTLING CLUB – (Boys and Girls Grades 1-6)
Hawken School has a long and proud tradition of competitive, scholastic wrestling at the middle and high school levels. We are now extending our wrestling program to include students in grades 1-6 through Youth Wrestling.
The first day of practice will be in mid-November. In all training and wrestling, participants will be matched by weight and experience. Participants will learn the basics of wrestling rules, positioning, and technique in all aspects of the sport. We expect to frequently divide instructional groups into novice and advanced.
Practices will be held two times per week (Tuesday, Thursday) beginning November 16 and run through mid-February. All Tuesday/Thursday practices will be held from 5:30 – 7:00 pm at the Gates Mills campus in the wrestling room. Additionally, we will have a handful of Saturday practices; times will be communicated once scheduled. Most competitions will take place on Saturdays and Sundays, and while not required, will be highly encouraged. A schedule will be released at a later date.
Cost is $150.00 per wrestler and includes all practices, meets, some but not all tournaments, and a t-shirt. Headgear and wrestling shoes are required. Singlet uniform will be provided by the club during the season.
We will also be offering the opportunity to purchase additional team gear. Watch for more information.
