Middle School Chess Players Clinch State Championship

After two days of six long and intense chess games at the State High School and Middle School Chess Championships held in Cleveland on April 29 – 30, Hawken Middle school players Austin Daly ‘22, Destynn Keuchel ‘22, Hansen Song ‘22, and Ishan Vyas ’22 became State Champions among 13 teams from all corners of Ohio.
 
Hawk chess players shined in all sections of the competition, with Brennen Keuchel  ’19 capturing third place among 34 players in the High School Championship section, missing the title by just a half a point. In the High School Reserve section, Nicholas Bislich ’19 and Nikhil Goel ’19 received fifth place team trophy. In the Middle School Reserve section, Hawken Lower School players Eli R. ‘28, John J. ‘25, and Sam C.  ’24 received  a fifth place team trophy.
