Graduate Addresses Cleveland Advertisers

Rich Stoddart, a 1981 Hawken graduate and CEO of North America for Leo Burnett Co., addressed the Cleveland Chapter of the American Advertising Federation in October highlighting successful campaigns that also inspire people to do good.

During his address, which resonated with Hawken's "higher plane of life" motto, Stoddart highlighted Leo Burnett campaigns that empower girls, promote literacy and foster world peace. "We get to do that: to inspire people to do stuff like that and make the brand successful all at the same time," Stoddart said.

"It's never been easier to get people to participate," Stoddart noted. "One hundred hours' worth of video is uploaded to YouTube every minute. Design a party that people want to crash."

Stoddart also challenged Cleveland advertisers to "use their creative gifts to showcase the city's vibrant arts, culture and food scene."
