Middle School Team Academic Team Competes in DC
May 30-31 Hawken’s Middle School Academic Challenge team competed at the QUnlimited Junior National Championship in Washington D.C.
The invitational tournament takes only the best teams across the nation, and Hawken was invited based upon their win in the State Championship.
On June 1, the A team, with a 5-1 win record, went into the Championship brackets seeded 4th. The semi-final match found Hawken against a team from Warren, NJ, a team they had beat early in the tournament. The match was close with the lead changing back and forth across the rounds, until one of the opposing players found their buzzer a split second ahead – and took the win. This knocked Hawken out of the match, but still gave our school an excellent 5th Place finish in the nation. Even better, Hawken was the only team to be able to beat the Warren team, and Hawken scored more points against them than any other team in the tournament.
It was hard fought, and the team can be proud of how well they did. Bravo to the Hawken Middle School AcChal team!
