Eighteen Inducted into Cum Laude Society
Family, friends and faculty gathered on June 6 to induct 18 new members into the Cum Laude Society.
Science teacher Dr. Russ Maurer gave an inspiring address to those in attendance and Alison Jin '15 performed a stirring rendition of Chopin's Nocturne Op. 9 No. 2. The Cum Laude Society recognizes academic achievement in secondary schools for the purpose of promoting excellence (Areté), justice (Diké) and honor (Timé). Each Chapter may elect 20% of the graduating class and 10% of the junior class who have demonstrated academic excellence in the college preparatory curriculum.
It is the hope of the Society that students will accept the honor of their membership as a responsibility to make some contribution to the on-going search for greater understanding of the world in which we live.
