Mother-Daughter Team Featured on WEWS
Freshman Crile Hart and her mother, Jane Esselstyn '83, were interviewed by Channel 5 News about their state championship wins under Coach Holtrey.
Jane Esselstyn '83 was on Coach Holtrey's first girls swim team and swam her way to an individual state title in the 100 backstroke. Years later, her daughter Crile showed an interest in swimming as a kindergartner. This year Crile won the state title in the 200 individual medley, which is quite an accomplishment as a freshman.
Both mother and daughter are proud to be a part of Coach Holtrey's amazing 45-year career. "Considering that my mom was one of his first champions, individually, and that I was one of his last it's kind of like the story in between the bookends. It's like mother-daughter, we started and finished Jerry off and it's a nice feeling," said Crile in an interview by Dave Arnold for Channel 5 News.
