Middle School Wins State Academic Challenge Title Again

After seven hours of competition and ten hard fought matches, Hawken won the Ohio Regional Academic Challenge Tournament held at John Carroll University on Feb. 1. The competition gained Hawken an invitation to the national tournament in Washington D.C. in June.
Hawken fielded six teams - all of which did quite well as they advanced through the day.

In the end, it was the A Team that clinched the title with team members Sanjay Vallabhaneni '18, Jack Gole '19, Jack Seasholtz '18, and captain Anderson Clyde '17. The team is pictured with the CEO of QUnlimited, Mr. Chip Beall. QUnlimited is a national quiz bowl company that created this tournament program for Ohio along with regional tournaments in other states. They also run the National programs in three areas of the country.

The Upper School team won 3rd place in the high school division. Team members were Shang-Shang Chen '14, Ethan Carey 16, Egypt Ali '17, and Johnny Makuch '17.

Congratulations to our Hawken Teams!
