Chess Player Donates Winnings to Flood Response
Seventh grader Brennen Keuchel and his brother Connor participated in the Akron Chess Club tournament in Cuyahoga Falls on Saturday October 5.
Brennen played in the reserve section and finished the tournament with a perfect score, wining all of his four games. He received a cash prize and will be donating part of it to the Hawken Colorado Flood Response.
Connor played in the open section and won against national chess master Pappu Murthy. This win, along with the results of other games, qualified him for the United States Chess Federation National Expert title. Connor, an alumnus of Hawken Middle School and a freshman at Solon High School, works as the chess club instructor at Hudson Montessori School.
