Eight Seniors Named Merit Semifinalists
Congratulations to Sid Ahuja, Aric Floyd, Sophie Kerman, Zachary Kirsch, Emma Link, Elijah Spiro, Sarah Stark, and Ben Wu for being named semifinalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program.
Based on their exceptional performance on the 2012 PSAT, the eight are among a nationwide pool of approximately 16,000 semifinalists (less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors) that includes the highest scoring entrants in each state.
These students represent slightly over 7% of the Hawken senior class.
Approximately 90 percent of the semifinalists are expected to reach the finalist level, and half of these will likely be selected as Merit Scholarship winners, earning the Merit Scholar title. Every Finalist will compete for one of 2,500 National Merit $2500 Scholarships that will be awarded on a state representational basis.
