Sean Decatur '86 Featured in Plain Dealer

Hawken graduate Sean Decatur and his appointment as president of Kenyon College are featured in a great article in The Plain Dealer.
Sean Decatur '86 was interviewed by The Plain Dealer for an engaging article about his appointment as president of Kenyon College starting this summer.

In the article, Decatur's mother, Doris commented that "He attended Cleveland schools until fifth grade, when he enrolled at Hawken School. He just seemed to need more. It was the best place for him to go. He settled in and did a beautiful job."

After graduating from Hawken, Decatur studied chemistry at Swarthmore College and went on to earn a doctorate in biophysical chemistry from Stanford University.

Kenyon Board of Trustees chairman Barry Schwartz says of Decatur, "He is energetic and very much engaged in the current issues affecting higher education and the liberal arts. And the fact he comes at it at the vantage point of a 44-year-old person in my view is a very good thing."
