Upper School Teacher and Author Peter Scott Visits 7th Grade at Gries

Upper School English teacher Peter Scott treated 7th graders to a visit recently as they began work on a new historical fiction short story writing project at the Gries Center. Engaging in concentrated research, brainstorming, and one-on-one work, students will integrate writing skills and historical research to produce their own short story. The project will span four weeks.

Mr. Scott read from his World War II novel Something in the Water and his recent Civil War novel In Deer Isle, Maine, and discussed his own process of researching and writing. Students then brainstormed their ideas and began the research process.
