HPS Presents Hilarious Comedy "Lend Me A Tenor"
The Hawken Players’ Society invites you to join the cast and creative team for its production of Ken Ludwig’s hysterical comedy, Lend Me A Tenor. Directed by Upper School Theatre Director Mike Larochelle, Lend Me A Tenor will run Nov. 8, 9, 10 and 11 in Kennedy Auditorium on the Upper School campus.
On a historic night in 1934, the Cleveland Grand Opera Company prepares to present world-famous tenor Tito Morelli, “Il Stupendo,” the greatest tenor of his generation, to appear for one night only as the lead in Verdi’s Otello. The star arrives late and, through a hilarious series of mishaps, is given a double dose of tranquilizers and passes out, setting off a chain reaction of slapstick and mistaken identity. A sensation on Broadway and in London's West End, this madcap, screwball comedy is guaranteed to leave audiences teary-eyed with laughter.
The cast features Claire DiVito ’13 (Maria Merelli), Justin Faulhaber ’13 (Tito Merelli – “Il Stupendo”), Caroline Hurwitz ’13 (Diana, an opera diva), Victoria Jones ’13 (Julia Leverett, Chairman of the Opera Guild), Arianna Marino ’15 (Maggie), Quinn McHale ’14 (Max, assistant to Mr. Saunders), Spencer Olson ’13 (Henry Saunders, General Manager - Cleveland Grand Opera Company) and Matt Thompson ‘15 (the Bellhop).
The creative team for Lend Me A Tenor includes Mr. Mike Larochelle (Hawken Upper School Theater Director/Designer), Trent Taylor ‘13 (Technical Director), Bryce Lewis ‘14 (Student Producer), Alex Kaufman (Stage Manager), Daniel Waxman-Lenz (Sound Designer/Assistant Technical Director), Caroline Maimbourg (Wardrobe) and John Walker Moosbrugger (Master Carpenter).
