Tennis Duo State Champs; Track Advances
Congratulations Dan Lubarsky ’12 and Siddarth Ahuja ’14, OHSAA Division II Tennis Doubles STATE CHAMPIONS! Dan and Sid outlasted the returning State Runners-up from Lima Central Catholic 6-7 (7-9), 7-6 (7-3), 7-5 to claim Hawken’s first State Championship in Boys Tennis. It was an epic performance in the championship match for the Hawks, who fought back from a set down, and down 1-5 in the second set with temperatures in the 90’s. The match lasted over two hours. Also, Alexandra Markovich '13 and Zachary Polk '14 have qualified for the State Track and Field Championships this weekend. Ally placed fourth at Regionals in the 3,200m race, but advances to States with one of the top times in the state this season. Zach competes in the long jump; his personal best jump of 21’ 5 ½” at Regionals earned him his trip to Columbus. Zach competes in the D-II State long jump at 9:30am Friday, June 1. Ally runs in the D-III 3,200m race at 11:10am Saturday, June 2. Both compete at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium on the Ohio State University campus.
