National Theater Group Explores Contemporary Issues Through Ancient Greek Texts

On Thursday, April 19, Hawken School’s Lyndhurst Chapel at 5000 Clubside Road will host the Aquila Theater presentation of Homecoming: The Return of the Warrior, part of a series that received the largest drama grant bestowed from the National Endowment for the Humanities ($800,000).

Homecoming, an Ancient Greeks/Modern Lives: Poetry-Drama-Dialogue program, uses ancient greek text to help understand the contemporary issues of veterans. Professional actors will stage dramatic readings, and a “town hall” discussion, under the moderation of Professor Timothy Wutrich of the Department of Classics, Case Western Reserve University, will follow. Veterans, their family and friends, and those who wish to offer support in the Cleveland community are encouraged to attend.

The hour and a half program will begin at 7:00 pm. This event is free and open to the public, however, seats are limited. Click here for more information.

A similar program will be held Friday, April 20 at the Cleveland Museum of Art.
