Swimmers Recognized by Plain Dealer, News Herald

Carrie Bencic ’13 was selected as The Plain Dealer’s Swimmer of the Year for her “epitome of determination throughout her career.”

Carrie won the 200 and 500 yard freestyles at the Division II state swimming meet and participated in two winning relays as the swim team went on to win a record breaking 14th state title.

This accomplishment moved Hawken swimmers past St. Edward’s wrestlers to set a new record for the most consecutive state titles in Ohio.

Other students selected for the Plain Dealer’s Girls Swimming All-Stars were Morgan Cohara ’12, Marissa Cominelli ’13, and Sarah Koucheki ’13.

Sarah’s performance in the Division II 100-yard butterfly came in at a state record 54.66, and gave her a third consecutive year win.
