Senior Wins Grand Prize at NEO Science and Engineering Fair

Ani Dasarathy ’12, was a Grand Prize and 1st place winner in the field of Physics at the prestigious 59th Annual Northeastern Ohio Science and Engineering Fair, held March 12-15 at Cleveland State University.  This is the fourth consecutive year Hawken School has had one of the Fair’s four Grand Prize Winners. This achievement has qualified Ani to compete this May in the International Science and Engineering Fair in Pittsburgh.
 

About 600 students, grades 7-12, from over 100 public, private and parochial schools compete for recognition in the Fair’s nine categories, which are subdivided by grade levels. The Northeastern Ohio Fair is sponsored by the Cleveland Clinic, The Great Lakes Science Center, and The Cleveland State University and is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for students to showcase their projects, along with their inquiry, research and presentation skills. Besides the awards and recognition, the Fair is a unique opportunity for the students to discuss research with local scientist and engineers.
