Family Service Day Warms Hearts

Our annual family service day, Warming the Hearts, was a success again this year. Forty students and parents, representing all three divisions, attended the event on a Sunday in March.

Participants made 40 blankets in just one-and-a-half hours, finding themselves energized by the idea of donating a lovingly made blanket to a homeless child.

Prior to the event, representatives from the sixth grade class gave a kick-off presentation in a middle school assembly. They explained the important work of the Family Promise organization and encouraged everyone to participate in this valuable service opportunity.

At the event, Ashley Imbrogno, founder of Warming the Hearts, personally thanked participants for their time and joined the Hawken group to make blankets. Her organization has donated over 6,000 blankets in the last seven years.

On the Warming the Hearts website, notice that they have included some great photos of this Hawken event over the years.
