Hawken lacrosse midfielder and senior captain John Rayburn will attend Roanoke College (VA) in the fall of 2012. Roanoke was a NCAA Division III national semi-finalist in 2011 and is ranked #4 in pre-season national polls. John has enjoyed a stellar three-year varsity career as a midfielder and face-off specialist for the Hawks. As a sophomore he received Division II all-North Ohio honorable mention and broke out as a junior receiving first-team Division II all-North Ohio honors as well as a second-team all-Ohio honors. He set a Hawken single-season record for ground balls in 2011 with 136. John also tallied 46 goals and 20 assists and earned a remarkable 73% success rate at the face-off X. John was a major contributor to the Burning River Lacrosse Club's Elite team during the summer of 2011 competing against some of the best club programs in the nation at events in Syracuse, New Brunswick, NJ, and Baltimore.

 

Nine boys will represent Hawken lacrosse this summer competing for The Burning River Lacrosse Club of Cleveland. Burning River trains many of the top lacrosse players in northern Ohio to compete against the nation's best programs. Many members of Burning River have gone on to play college lacrosse at some of the most competitive Division I, II, and III colleges and universities in the country:

 

Elite (Class of 2013): Stephen Petersilge (attack), Will Holden '13 (defense)

Select (Class of 2014): Wyatt Beck (midfield)

Rising Stars (Class of 2015): Anton Bassett-Echle (goal), Ethan Scully (defense)

Class of 2016: Jack Green (defense), Logan Lair (midfield)

Class of 2018: Charlie Ross (goal), Mason Goldberg (defense)
