Power of the Pen Team Impresses at State Competition
Hawken teachers, Mrs. Lynne Petkovic and Mrs. Laura Staufer, escorted eighth graders, Emily Staufer, Alison Jin and Valerie Heyd, to the Power of the Pen State competition at the College of Wooster on Friday May 27. Over seven hundred 7th and 8th graders competed in three rounds of writing. Alison Jin and Emily Staufer made it to a fourth Power Round of writing. Alison walked the stage to receive 2nd place overall, and Emily was recognized for her Best of the Best writing piece from Regionals as well as earning 10th place overall.
We are extremely proud of all three girls for making it to the competition and representing their school with their creative writing skills.
