Girls Track Wins District Championship

The Girls Track and Field team took first place at the District Meet last Friday at Independence HS. This is the second consecutive year the girls have won the District Championship. Go Hawks! The girls won the 4x400m relay (Emily Heyd ’13, Ally Markovich ’13, Kerrin Sunshine ’11, Jenny Satterfield ’14), the 4x800m relay (Carolyn Mazanec ’13, Rachel McKay ’13, Ally Markovich ’13, Kerrin Sunshine ’12), and sophomore Ally Markovich won both the 1,600m and the 3,200m races. The Hawks were also runners up in the 4x200m relay (Nya Braxton ’12, Kerrin Sunshine ’12, Katie Wilson ’11, Sara Stotter ’12), the 4x100m relay (Nya Braxton ’12, Eve Kerman ’11, Daijah Reese ’14, Katie Wilson ’11), and the 300m hurdles (Kerrin Sunshine ’12).
