Friday, January 28 marked Hawken’s second upper school community service and campus stewardship day, with students dispersed throughout the school and at various locations off campus to focus on a service project or activity. School stewardship activities included chemistry demonstrations for middle school students, donor thank you calls, alumni phonathan, HawkFest setup, school clean-up, and library chair reupholstery; off-campus outreach projects included joining first graders at the Lyndhurst campus to make hats to donate, sorting food donations for the Cleveland Food Bank, singing at Judson Manor, engaging in activities with residents of Montefiore, sorting clothing for West Side Catholic Center, cleaning up the watershed at Doan Broak Watershed Partnership, among others. After the morning work sessions, students enjoyed an afternoon of House competitions that included snow play, floor hockey, dodge ball, board games, corn hole, and other activities. The action-packed day concludes with tonight’s HawkFest celebration, so be sure to join in the fun!
