GCCTM Championship Math Awards for Sixth Grade Competitors

In May, twelve sixth grade students competed in teams of four in the Annual Greater Cleveland Council of Teachers of Mathematics Contest at the Mayfield High School contest site. There were eight contest locations to accommodate hundreds of students in the greater Cleveland area. They had earned the opportunity to experience the challenge of working as a team to solve problems that link multiple math skills with high level reasoning. Students competed among their peers in four rounds that included mental math, timed problem-solving applications, and geometric construction. Earning a Championship Award were Anthony Charles and Sarah Senkfor (not pictured), Rachelle Magaram, Sears Schulz, Michael Gerace, Austin Halpern, Ryuta Fujita, Matthew Zhu, Izzy Cohen, Sauma Du, Dalya Oprian, and Jacob Cohen. Congratulations to these hard-working mathletes!
