All Hawken middle school Latin students - and one student of Chinese - took the National Mythology Exam this spring, and 41% of these students earned awards. The format of the exam is multiple choice, with a thirty-question section on Greek and Roman mythology, ten questions from a themed subsection on Heracles, and one ten-item literary sub-test of the student`s choice on either the Iliad, Odyssey, Aeneid, African tales, Native American tales, or Norse Myths. Hawken students earning Gold Medallions (100%) were Lena Goren (grade 8), Elliot Glazer (8), Jonathan Vexler (7), Adam Stilson (7), Mara Cohen (7), Tim Holman (6), and Sophie Dragowsky (6). Silver Medallions (95-99%) were awarded to Colin Moore (8), Jack Weisman (7), Dennis Wu (7), Matt Puckace (7), Daniel Weiss (7), Owen Driscoll (7), Sarah Parker (6), Israel Moorer (6), and Emma Ritz (6). A special congratulations goes to Owen, who takes Chinese as his language choice at Hawken rather than Latin. Bronze Medallions (90-95%) were earned by Alex Stotter (8), Eric Giesler (8), Alex Doody (7), Jenna Greig (7), Isaac Jacobson (6), and Ethan Carey (6).
