Hawken to Host Recycling Event, April 19-23

In observance of the 40th anniversary of Earth Day, Hawken Upper School will be hosting a recycling event for computers, electronics and shoes during the week of April 19-23, 2010. Shoe Recycling All athletic and non-athletic shoes will be collected in the AC Lobby throughout the week and recycled through Nike`s Reuse-A-Shoe program. Electronics Recycling Electronic equipment, including cameras, ipods/mp3s, cell phones, desk phones, radios, and other devices will be collected for recycling in the AC Lobby throughout the week. Computer Recycling Please bring computer equipment to the front entrance of Ireland Hall between 3:30 and 6:00 p.m. on Friday, April 23, or on Saturday, April 24 between 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Hawken students will help unload cars for computer recycling if assistance is needed. Items may include monitors, towers, printers, cables, speakers, etc. All computer hard drives will be erased. Computers still in useable condition are refurbished and implemented throughout the Cleveland public schools system. Other computers and their components are recycled into new products.
