Early Childhood Training Workshops a Success

Hawken School`s Early Childhood Training Institute hosted a series of summer workshops dedicated to \"The Art of Teaching Young Minds\" on August 10-13 at Hawken`s Lyndhurst campus. Gaye Gronlund, an early childhood education expert; Juanita Copley, an early childhood mathematics expert; Sallee Beneke, an early childhood special education expert; Robin Echols Cooper, a master storyteller; and David Young, a professional musician who partnered with Cooper, all presented to sold out workshops. Topics included early math standards and concepts in books, enhancing developmentally appropriate play and learning, intentionally teaching mathematics in daily activities, and the Project Approach. This is the second summer Hawken`s Early Childhood Training Institute has offered this opportunity for Cleveland area educators to strengthen their skills and understanding of developmentally appropriate best practices.
