Hawken Academic Team Places 3rd in State

On Saturday May 2nd the Hawken Academic Team, Northeast Regional Champions, joined twelve schools from six regions around the state at Columbus State Community College for the Ohio Academic Competitions State Championships. After a very close, four-point loss to Fisher Catholic (Lancaster) in the opening match, the team won the next four matches, beating Cincinnati Country Day 50-34, Northmont 48-40, Oberlin 44-24, and Northwest 50-35, to make it to the semifinals. Facing Green, the team that finished 2nd to Hawken in the Regionals, Hawken again came up four points short and lost in another close match 51-47. The team then faced Fisher Catholic again in the consolation bracket and beat them 48-43, taking the Third Place Trophy. Congratulations to participating team members for their impressive performace at States: seniors John Borokhovich, Brian Huser, Samuel Milner, and freshman Adil Menon.
