Power of the Pen Club Places 2nd in District Competition
On January 24th, 12 seventh and eighth graders participated in the district Power of the Pen writing competition. Hawken was one of 17 schools participating among a total of nearly 200 writers. Hawken seventh graders placed second in the competition and included Lena Goren, Sarah Stark, Anna Du, Sophie Kerman, Efae Nicholson, Eleanor Rimmerman, and Liz Riley. The following students were recognized for their individual efforts: Anna Du `14 earned 15th place as well as a Best of Round award, Sarah Stark `14 earned a 6th place award, and Liam Oznowich `13 earned a 5th place award. Congratulations to the entire team. We look forward to hearing more success stories as the competition goes to Regionals!
