Hawken Announces Appointment of Asst. Head for External Affairs

Hawken announced today the appointment of Devin K. Schlickmann as its next Assistant Head of School for External Affairs, beginning July 1, 2008. In this role Schlickmann will oversee the areas of development, communications and admission/financial aid. He comes to Hawken after having served at Gilmour Academy for the past ten years, currently as the Dean of Institutional Advancement where he leads the development, communications and enrollment management efforts. Schlickmann has played a lead role in the success of Gilmour`s capital campaign, and has overseen notable gains in annual giving, as well as a strengthened enrollment position for the school. Prior to his service to Gilmour, he served as the Director of the Annual Fund at Moses Brown School in Providence, as Assistant Director of Admission at the Northfield Mount Hermon School in Massachusetts, and as an English teacher and Assistant to the Head for admission and development at the Winchendon School, also in Massachusetts. \"Devin`s guidance, along with the talents of his department colleagues, will help to expand the scope and success of our fundraising and enrollment efforts in a myriad of ways,\" said Head of School Scott Looney. \"His 17 years of experience in independent school development and admission has positioned him well to lead Hawken forward in a position of increasing strength in all facets of external affairs.\" Schlickmann attended the Fay School in Southborough, Massachusetts, for elementary school and Deerfield Academy in Deerfield, Massachusetts, for prep school. After Deerfield, he went to Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut, where he studied political science and played varsity lacrosse.
