Senior standouts

Two Hawken seniors were recently selected by The Plain Dealer as \"Senior Standouts.\" Hannah Whitehead was recognized particularly for her passion for the outdoors. Hannah`s visited the Allegheny National Forest with Hawken`s Outdoor Leadership Program and has also explored the Montana wilderness. \"If still waters run deep, then Hannah is the Mariana Trench,\" said Hawken English teacher and dean Cris Harris. She is a member of the Cum Laude Society, a National Merit Finalist and a volunteer at the Shaker Lakes Nature Center. She is the founding member of a Hawken book club and a board member of Hawken`s literary magazine. Hannah is also trained in conflict resolution having attended a May camp called Seeds of Peace. Kenan Diab was also honored by the newspaper for his stellar performance during his high school career. \"This is a young man whose ability, energy and appetite for learning know no bounds,\" Harris said. Kenan is a member of the U.S. Physics Team, a Lincoln-Douglas debate winner, a National Forensic League national tournament qualifier and a National Merit finalist. He won first place in the Tri-State region Physics Bowl and the Michelson-Morley award.
