Hawken places first in TEAMS competition

Hawken recently received a first-place division ranking in Ohio in the annual TEAMS competition and advanced to national eligibility. The school`s team of eight students who earned the ranking participated in the national science, math and engineering contest in late February at the University of Akron, joining over 1200 schools competing throughout the country. As a team, seniors Matt Dahlhausen, Kenan Diab, Matt Raskind, Zach Rosskamm and Adam Waxman, juniors Ryan Pearl and Myron Zhang and sophomore Alec Lai scored 60 out of a possible 80 points. The score was only six points shy of the national high and qualified the team to advance to national eligibility, a distinction only one-fifth of the competing teams earn. Last year, Hawken received a first-place division ranking in Ohio and also placed fourth nationally in its division. National rankings will be announced later this month.
