Hawken students formidable arts competition contenders

jb
For the first time ever, a Hawken student is exhibiting in New York City as part of winning a Gold Key in the National Scholastic Awards competition. Sophomore Dana Lee earned the honor after advancing in the regional Scholastic Awards where a number of Hawken students won recognition in the exhibit in the Reinberger Galleries at the Cleveland Institute of Art (click here for that story). In other art news, Hawken students made impressive showings at two other area and state competitions. Exhibiting recently at a Beachwood Invitational, which featured works from Cleveland-area public and private school students, were Grace Dickman, Abel Mills and Natalia Kaplan, who received Honorable Mention for her ceramic piece. And featured in the state-wide Governor`s Show in Columbus are Pirin Sriweawnetr and Abel Mills` works of art. The competition began at Mentor High School where, in addition to Sriweawnetr and Mills, Hawken students Hannah Whitehead, Kelsey Ellison, Leslie Farinacci, and Peggy Seabright qualified to compete for one of only five regional spots in the Governor`s Show.
