Women`s varsity soccer, field hockey win big

Don`t touch us. Unless, that is, you want to get burned. Hawken`s sports teams are setting the playing fields afire. The women`s varsity soccer and field hockey teams are joining the men`s soccer team in their respective quests to their state championship games. In a state-qualifying tournament, the field hockey team became the 2006 sectional champions, beating Laurel 2-1 in overtime. Freshman goalie Iris Rayburn had an amazing 23 saves throughout the game. The soccer team, the No.4 seed in the district, clinched the Division II sectional title with a 1-0 win over the Perry Pirates. Senior Natalie Stever scored the winning goal with a corner-kick assist from senior Hannah Recht. Goalie Caitlin Zusy, junior, had five saves. Both teams now move on to districts...let`s hope with matches in tow.
