Granddad goes back to school
It`s fair to say that when you were in kindergarten your gym partner probably wasn`t your grandmother or grandfather. That is, of course, if you didn`t attend Hawken. Actually, if it does happen here, it`s only for half a day during our annual Grandparents and Special Friends Days, when Hawken students get to invite "grand" guests to accompany them during a bit of their school day. Recently, the pre-kindergartners and kindergarteners had their turn at welcoming their invitees to Hawken. Pre-K guests got a dose of Spanish, played musical instruments, made crafts and had story time. Kindergarten guests played tag, performed gymnastics, crooned in Spanish and created books. "It was a splendid morning," said Kathie MacEwan, Lower School director. Future Grandparents and Special Friends days will be hosted for grades 2-4 and 6-8.
