Fourth Grade Self-Contained Classroom Teacher

THE POSITION Hawken School is seeking a full-time fourth grade self-contained classroom teacher. The essential duties/responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following: +é-+ Teach in a self-contained section of fourth grade, including language arts, social studies and mathematics +é-+ Serve as a homeroom teacher to one section of fourth grade students +é-+ Serve as a member of the fourth grade teaching team, responsible for developing, planning and implementing classroom/grade level curriculum and measuring/reporting student progress +é-+ Perform any other non-teaching duties as assigned by the Director or Head of School QUALIFICATIONS Hawken School seeks a dynamic individual committed to teaching the total child. Candidates must possess demonstrated competence in elementary instruction and pedagogy. A Master`s degree in Elementary Education and recent teaching experience is preferred. Candidates should have an understanding of the developmental needs of the age group, flexibility, energy, creativity, high expectations and a sense of humor. Candidates should be willing and eager to assist in the life of the School and be effective in dealing with colleagues and parents.
