6th grade to view M. Night Shyamalan`s "The Village"

waskowitz
6th Graders have been reading \"The Giver,\" which deals with themes such as a utopian society, coming-of-age, fear of the unknown, development of family, independence, and honesty. To provide students with a different perspective, and to inspire discussion, 6th grade English classes will be watching M. Night Shyamalan`s \"The Village,\" starting on May 31st. Discussion will center around the movie`s situations, which are similar to that of \"The Giver.\" Compounding the interest is the idea that the movie presents of a colonial agricultural society as Utopia. The movie is rated PG-13 for a \"scene of violence and frightening situations.\" Mrs. Fluitt requests that 6th grade parents click on the following link to find out more about this movie: The Village. If there are any further concerns about your child viewing this movie, please feel free to give Mrs. Fluitt a call at 440-423-4446 x 798.
