Seniors Achieve Banner Year in College Acceptances

pac(enews)
Hawken`s Class of 2006 has achieved a banner year in college admissions, even as colleges and universities nationwide are becoming more selective. Highlights of the accomplishments include: 17 Hawken seniors gained admission to an Ivy League college this year, four of whom were admitted to more than one Ivy; 60 students among 115 seniors gained acceptance to at least one highly selective college; the majority of Hawken seniors gained acceptance to their first-choice school. Additionally, Hawken students accomplished a clean sweep at Cornell--all six Hawken students who applied were accepted--and repeated sweeps at Chicago, Colby, Colorado College, Hamilton, Miami, Oberlin, and Skidmore. The college acceptance successes of Hawken seniors were perhaps foretold by the high number of students recognized by the National Merit program in the fall (32), as well as by impressive early-decision results in December. Read more about these successes, including a list of college acceptances to date, in a letter from Jim Berkman to the Hawken community.
