Hawken Students To Compete In Power Of The Pen State Finals!

Four Hawken Students have been selected from the recent Power of the Pen regional competition to participate in the State Finals at the College of Wooster on May 25-26, 2006. Hannah Pittman (8th gr.), Hannah Kerman (7th gr.), Nick Richards (7th gr.), and Julie Zeilinger (7th gr., alternate)were recognized in Chapel on April 7 for their strong efforts and upcoming State Finals competition. Along with this, the entire Power of the Pen team is to be congratulated for their efforts throughout the year. Mrs. Saltzman and Mrs. Polk, faculty advisors to The Power of the Pen team, have been instrumental in the team`s success. Power of the Pen+óGÇP-ó is a non-profit educational writing program which targets 7th and 8th grade students in Ohio. At three levels of competition (District, Regional, and State), students participate in three rounds of impromptu writing and receive instant feedback from judges.
