More than 100 awards were bestowed upon Hawken Upper School students at the 2006 Awards Day ceremony. Ranging in subject from academics to extracurricular activities and community service, the breadth and variety of awards conferred the diversity of interest and range of talent of Hawken students. That diversity was especially recognized through the Bolton award, awarded this year to Caitlin Clements `06. The Bolton Award is bestowed upon a Hawken student who excels in all aspects of education and in so doing has truly lived up to the Hawken motto: +óGé¼-£That each generation introduce its successor to a higher plane of life.`" Caitlin, who also won an Old Board Award for Women`s Lacrosse at the Annual Spring Athletics Banquet, will be attending Yale University in the fall. Faculty were also honored for the time and dedication they brought to the classroom, most notably Nadja Deighan, the director of student affairs and advising, who will be retiring this year. In her opening address to awardees, Deighan discussed the inherent reward found in the small things: friendship, love, respect, and acts of kindness. Drawing on a theme of infrastructure and community within Hawken, she asked students and faculty alike to recognize the endless ways to find personal reward. As she noted, although not everyone may receive an award, all contribute. Below is a list of all awards and their recipients. All students are from the class of 2006 unless otherwise noted.
