Sixth-graders invited to join stock market simulation team

It`s time for the Ohio Stock Market Simulation! This is a statewide contest for middle school students, and this year the program at Hawken will be offered exclusively to our sixth graders. The contest is sponsored by Economics America through John Carroll University. It is an online program where each team of students researches stock trends and P.E. ratios, then decides how to invest the initial $200,000. Each week teams will review their portfolios and make trades to hopefully increase their net worth. The competition begins February 12 and continues for ten weeks until April 20. Teams comprised of three students will meet in the computer lab each Tuesday and Thursday afternoon from 3:15 until 4:00 to log-on to the Internet and buy or sell shares of chosen stock. Each team will be working with Mrs. Pam Richmann (sixth grade Math teacher) and will also have the benefit of working with an actual broker, Mr. Joseph Brooks, who has guided Ohio SMS teams through various aspects of stock trade for many years.
