Mummy Wrap Fosters Cultural Understanding

Hawken fourth graders held the Mummy Wrap on January 26 - a ceremonial production that brings to life the customs of ancient Egyptians. The Mummy Wrap was started by retired teacher Jim Gross as a component of the social studies program and remains an event fondly remembered by former fourth grade students. Fellow Faculty Emeriti and former Upper School history teacher John Tottenham credits the fourth grade program social studies program with "developing a deep understanding of cultures by simply living them.\"
