Will Bowen Plays Long Awaited Suicide Prevention Concert

Earlier this year, Hawken`s Upper School students placed first in the Suicide Prevention Educational Alliance Walk into the Light fundraising event held at the Cleveland Zoo. Hawken students raised the most funds among participating area high schools, over $3000. As a thanks for their hard work, the students were awarded a guitar to be displayed for an entire year at the school plus a free music concert by Will Bowen, which took place last week. Will, a friend of CJ Marshall `04, wrote a song after her brother John`s suicide. He also agreed to donate a concert for the team that raised the most funds during this year`s walk. Over 50 members of the Hawken community joined Upper School students for the concert. Will Bowen, a 2004 University School grad, has had early industry success, including as opening act for the Dave Matthews Band. While still performing as an artist, Bowen has signed a writing deal with Pure Tone Music Publishing. Learn more at his website.
