Hawken Receives Record Number in Donations

In the fiscal year that ended June 30, nearly 2,000 members of the Hawken community contributed more than $7,100,000 to the Annual Fund, capital projects, financial aid, enrichment programs, and the endowment. The amount greatly exceeded the $3.8 million in contributions made in 2004 and in the past several years. Highlights of the past year included a record-breaking $1.1 million given to Hawken through the Annual Fund GÇô a primary source of operating support for the School. The School also reached $9.5 million in gifts to the campaign to build a new Middle School on the Lyndhurst campus. "Thanks to the hard work of our volunteers and the extraordinary generosity of so many members of our community, we successfully met many of our fundraising goals", said Kathleen Guzzi, Director of Annual and Special Giving. Guzzi credited the leadership of Janice Hawwa and Jeff Lucier, Hawken parents and trustees, who stewarded the Annual Fund for the second consecutive year past the $1 million mark. Some other highlights of the year included: -+More than $285,000 in gifts to the endowment -+Nearly $2.3 million in contributions from alumni -+Nearly $2 million in contributions from parents -+Over $600,000 in contributions from grandparents -+Over $100,000 from special events led by parents and alumni "So many members of the Hawken community have made the School a priority in their lives, and in doing so have made a difference in the lives of each and every student." said James S.
