Save Our Stream Awarded Praxair Foundation Grant

Angela Primbus, Evin McMullin and Amanda Weatherhead, founders of the Save Our Stream organization have received an $8,500 Praxair Foundation, Inc. award for their continuing work and future plans to save the Ohio brook trout and to educate the public on the preservation of their stream habitat. Praxair Foundation`s goal is to provide financial help to non-profit organizations with clearly defined goals, especially those dealing the sciences, engineering and the environment. Special attention is given to those organizations working in the community where Praxair does business. Praxair is an industrial gas company with over $6 billion dollars in annual sales. Linda Moore presented the award to Hawken School and noted that "Save Our Stream has a clearly defined mission." The team provides education and enlists the public`s help. They have already completed impressive work with tree planting events, park trail signs, public education and they will now move into Phase II with the help of funding provided by Praxair. Angela discovered the Praxair award opportunity and wanted to help her team to continue to stewardship goals and plans. The funds will be used to obtain a presentation booth for education workshops and will assist the team in purchasing egg boxes and implementing a hatchery. The team continues to aggressively pursue their goals and has launched a website to further their outreach efforts. The site is linked with the Geauga Park District`s website. The three girls also participated in the Chagrin River Watershed Institute helping to film a documentary on watersheds, and were interviewed by Channel One, an educational network that will air their work to over 8 million students world-wide.
