Fifth Graders Show Their Stuff at Science Expo!

archive
Hawken fifth graders recently completed long-term Science research projects and displayed their findings during The Third Annual Hawken Lower School Science Expo. Beginning last November, students selected a topic of interest and developed an experimental procedure designed to answer a specific question. During the months of December and January, students conducted experiments and collected data. In January and February, they completed formal science lab reports. The students then began designing displays to chronicle their work and findings. The Lower School was able to view these displays on April 18, 19, and 20. On the evening of April 20th, families gathered in Hochstetler Dining Room for the Hawken Lower School Science Expo Parents Night. Fifth grade students have learned that the scientific process can be used to investigate almost any topic. As a result, there was an incredibly wide range of research topics on display. The event was a great success!
