Anne Kmieck Exhibits Out of the Closet: Her Side

Notre Dame College Art Department presents Upper School art teacher Anne T. Kmieck`s show "Out of the Closet: Her Side" through October 20 in the Performing Arts Center. Kmieck says "This show features four new works inspired by the words and writings of 19th century women, as well as four from the original `Out of the Closet` exhibition." Kmieck`s art explores the feminine perspective and the dress functions as a metaphor for the female body. The garments are altered through a variety of materials including oil, lipstick, and dried vegetation. The fabric is often pierced, burned or buried under layers of paint and wax. Through her artwork, Kmieck examines spiritual issues, myths, and history. Notre Dame College is located at 4545 College Road in South Euclid. The gallery is open Monday through Friday, noon to 6 p.m. or by appointment. For more information, contact gallery director Rachel Morris at 216.373.5320.
