SUBSTITUTE TEACHERS: Lower School
We are actively seeking candidates for substitute teaching roles, on an as-needed basis.

This means designing learning experiences for students that deepen their learning, engaging their emotions as well as their intellects.

THE POSITION
Hawken School is seeking dynamic and innovative individuals committed to teaching the total child. Candidates should be eager to work in an innovative and collaborative team-based environment with thoughtful individuals committed to doing school better. As a Substitute Teacher, flexibility, adaptability, and problem-solving skills will be critical factors in our search.
Responsibilities include:
- Implement lesson plans prepared by the classroom teacher
- Care for students’ safety and well-being throughout the school day
- Report daily events via written observations to classroom teacher at the end of the day
- Upholding the Purpose, Promise and Principles of Hawken School
QUALIFICATIONS
A bachelor's degree is required. Although prior classroom experience is preferred, candidates who have interacted with children toddler through fifth in organized settings (such as youth group or athletics) are welcome to apply. A deep understanding of developmental needs of young children and enthusiasm for learning are required.
