Hawken Chess Players Shine in State Grade Level Chess Championships
Austin Daly ’22, Christian French ’22, Brennen Keuchel ’19, Destynn Keuchel ’22, Greta Rodgers ’22, Eli Rutherford ’28, and Ishan Vyas ’22 were among the 260 students who participated in the 2017 State of Ohio Grade Level Chess Championships held in Newark on Saturday, November 18.
Students from all corners of Ohio competed for championship titles in thirteen sections of K-12. With four wins and a draw, Destynn captured the 8th grade state title, while his team with Austin, Christian, Greta, and Ishan, became the 8th grade State Team Champion. Brennen, with three wins and two draws, became State Runner-Up in the 11th grade section.
