Each year the Cleveland Institute of Art hosts the Scholastic Art Competition that recognizes creative achievement in students in grades 7-12. The young artists compete for cash prizes, medals, and scholarship awards.
A panel of local professional artists, art educators, writers, and writing educators jury the exhibit and select the awarded pieces from nearly 3,000 entries. Students who receive Gold Key Awards for individual works and portfolios continue to the national competition held in the spring in New York City.
Congratulations to Ella Atell ’19 and Aubrey Lair ’17 for being among the Five Gold Key Art and Five Gold Key Writing recipients nominated across all individual categories by collective jury to receive the “American Visions Award” for our Cuyahoga County region. These artists will continue on to the national competition to be held in the spring in New York City. See below for the list of all Hawken School winners.
