Upper School Students Receive Scholastic Art Awards

Congratulations to the following Upper School students who received Scholastic Art Awards earlier this month:

Gold Key: Hannah Miao ‘17 (painting); Silver Key:  Sarah Allaben ’17 (painting), Alexa Eyler ’17 (design), Mitchell Maly ’16 (drawing and illustration and art portfolio), Bar Sarig ’16 (printmaking), Christopher Speroff ’16 (ceramics and glass), Casper Yonel ’16 (ceramics and glass); Honorable Mention: Ellen Adams ’17 (sculpture), Sydney Harper ’18 (printmaking), Ellie Joyce ’18 (printmaking), Daijha Thompson ’17 (photography).

The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards is the longest-running, most prestigious recognition program for creative teens in the U.S., and the nation’s largest source of scholarships for creative young artists and writers. A noteworthy roster of past winners includes Andy Warhol, Sylvia Plath, Truman Capote, Richard Avedon, Robert Redford, Joyce Carol Oates, Stephen King, John Updike, and many more.

The works of award winners will be on display at the Cleveland Institute of Art’s annual Scholastic Art & Writing Awards Exhibition through the end of this month.
