Seniors Awarded Diplomas at Graduation

Sunday, June 7 marked the culmination of high school for seniors at Hawken School.

Eighty-nine students received their diplomas during the commencement ceremony held at the Gates Mills campus; in addition, two diplomas were awarded posthumously to the families of Alexander Doody and Joshua Weil.

Two students, Swetha Kareti and Samuel Schneider, were chosen by the senior class to address their classmates during the ceremony, and Matthew Thompson gave the valedictory address.

Spanish teacher and Hawken Jazz Band Director Chad Komocki was also chosen by students to address the graduating class.

Musical interludes included Song of the Qin Mulberry Field by Zhou Yan Jia, played on the Chinese zither by Alison Jin, and It’s Time, by Imagine Dragons, performed by Hawken’s close harmony group, Rockapella.
